As this newsletter went to
press we learned of the tragic death in an auto accident on June 3 of our
Bishop Protector, The Rt. Rev. James Kelsey of
This portion of
the newsletter originally had a photo of Jim and the Ministers Provincial of
CSF/SSF signing a covenant of mutual mission and ministry at our recent Joint
Chapter. We had the great privilege to
be gifted with Jim’s presence with us for the whole week. We can’t begin to express our sense of
sadness and loss at the death of our Franciscan Brother, our friend, our Bishop
Protector, our ministry partner, and an unflagging voice for the gospel message
of God’s inclusive love. In the midst of
our tears and our shock, we want to re-dedicate ourselves to the peace and
justice work in the world and the church for which Jim so eloquently spoke and
so passionately lived.
May he
rest in peace and rise in glory.
